Legalisation

After a Notary has signed and sealed a document, the authorities or recipients in many countries will require the document to be Legalised before it is accepted in that country.

Legalisation is a worldwide concept that verifies the authenticity of a document executed or signed in another country.

The process of Legalisation involves the affixing of a certificate called an Apostille by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and in some cases an additional certificate, stamp or other method of authentication by an Embassy.

An Apostille verifies that the Notary has signed and sealed the document.
